Expert Answers about Chevrolet Back Up Alarm

  • Back Up Alarm for a 2011 Ford F-250 Super Duty
  • It looks like the reverse light bulb type on a 2011 Ford F-250 is a 921 or 7440. We do not have a back up alarm that fits this socket type. But not to worry because you can still use surface mount back up alarm # BK97DB. Mount this alarm under the truck and wire it into a revere light circuit. At 97 decibels it will be louder than the type that fits in place of a reverse light bulb.

  • Heavy Duty Back Up Alarm Recommendation for Vehicle
  • For an HD back up alarm you would want the Pollak Heavy-Duty Back-Up Alarm # PK41761 that is adjustable from 97 dB to 112 dB. For a switch you would want the part # D16740 and then to install it you would just need to run a power wire to the switch and then to the alarm and then ground the ground post of the alarm. You will need to mount the alarm underneath your vehicle pointing to the rear for maximum effect. We don't have specific instructions but it would basically be having to mount...

  • Backup Alarm Solution for Vehicle with 7440 Reverse Light
  • Even though the 7440 and the 3156 are very similar they are not interchangeable. I wish we had a 7440 backup alarm but at this time we do not. While there isn't a combination reverse light bulb and back up alarm in this size there are back up alarms available by themselves such as # PK41820. You can mount one on the underside, rear of the vehicle and tap into a reverse light wire. I have also included a link to all of the back up alarms and sensors that we carry.

  • Will the Hopkins Backup Alarm Go Off When Backing up Trailer
  • The Hopkins Backup Sensor System - Audible Alert - License Bracket Mount, # HM60100VA, is designed to be wired in with the reverse light circuits so it will only be operating when in reverse and not while towing or parked. If you are still concerned about that annoying alarm, what you can do is to mount the actual alarm in an easily accessible location. The wire lead on it is not very long and has a connector on the end that connects to a longer strip of wiring that goes back to the sensor....

  • Back Up Alarm Recommendation for Vehicle with 921 Style Reverse Light
  • I may have a solution for you, however we do not currently have a combination reverse 921 light bulb and back up alarm available. We are not aware of when one might become available. We do have the stand alone Pollak Light-Duty to Medium-Duty Back-Up Alarm with Wire Leads # PK41820. This will install on the underside of your truck and tap into the reverse light wire. I have attached a demonstration video on this product as well as a link that will take you to our available selection of...

  • Back-Up Alarm for a 2016 Ram 1500
  • The Hopkins Backup Alert Replacement Bulbs like part # HM20101VA are only offered for 3156 and 1156 type bulbs. The 2016 Ram 1500 uses a 621 type bulb therefore there is not a Hopkins Backup Alert Replacement Bulb compatible. However, you could just use a standard back-up alarm like the Light-Duty to Medium-Duty Back-Up Alarm part # PK41820 without issue but this is really your only option. The Light-Duty to Medium-Duty Back-Up Alarm has a simple two wire installation so this is something...

  • Back Up Alarm Recommendation for 2007 GMC Yukon XL
  • The back up warning bulbs we offer are a replacement for the 3156 bulb, and your Yukon XL uses a different bulb. We do however have back-up alarms that will beep loudly when your vehicle is shifted into reverse. I'd recommend the Pollak Back Up Alarm, part # PK41851. The alarm would wire into the reverse lamp circuit of your Yukon, and would sound when the vehicle transmission is shifted into reverse. Its 107 decibel horn would be easily audible on a loud and chaotic jobsite.

  • Back Up Alert Recommendation for a 2008 Toyota highlander Hybrid
  • We carry 2 alarms that fit in the light socks of the reverse lights. One is # HM20101VA that you have already determined does not fit. The other is # HM20100VA, which definitely will not fit. What I recommend is the Surface Mount Back-up Alarm, # BK97DB. You can mount this device under the vehicle. It wires into the reverse light circuit on the vehicle and will actually be more audible than one of the replacement bulb alarms.

  • Back Up Alert Recommendation for a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500
  • Your 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 uses a type 921 backup light bulb. The Hopkins product you reviewed, part # HM20101VA, is a replacement for the type 3156 bulb. My contact at Hopkins advises that they do not offer an audible alarm replacement bulb for the 921 type. I also checked with two other suppliers of aftermarket lighting products, Putco and Optronics, and neither of these suppliers offers a 921 replacement bulb with alarm. However, we do offer the Custer Surface Mount Back-up...

  • Surface Mount Backup Alert Recommendation for a 2010 Honda Odyssey
  • At this time we do not carry a reverse light backup alert for your 2010 Honda Odyssey LX. I spoke with my contact at Hopkins and they do not have anything for the 7440 series bulb that is in your vehicle. You still have an option for an audible back-up alarm. You could use a Surface Mount Back-up Alarm # BK97DB. You will need to hardwire this unit into your reverse light circuit to install this product, but it would work as a back up alarm.

  • Backup Alarm Recommendation for 2006 Ford F-150
  • You certainly could install two of the Hopkins back up alerts part # HM20101VA in your 2006 Ford F-150. One for either side of the truck as reverse light bulb replacements. The alarm portion doesn't draw that much so it would not be too much for your reverse lights. You are going to have a very loud backup alarm setup!

  • Recommended Plug and Play Back Up Alarm for 2011 Mercedes-Benz GL550
  • We have just what you are looking for with a backup alarm that is plug and play for your 2011 Mercedes-Benz GL 550. I recommend the Hopkins Backup Alert - Replacement 1156 Bulb with Audible Alert # HM20100VA. It is possible that the unit you purchased required more power to work than what your vehicle put out. If that is the case the fix is either the Hopkins unit with Incandescent bulb or LED Light Bulb Load-Resistor Kit # DI34ZR. Yet another option if you have a 7-way on your vehicle...

  • Backup Alarm Recommendation for a 2011 Dodge Ram 3500
  • While we do not carry a backup alert bulb for your 2011 Dodge Ram you could install a Surface Mount Back-up Alarm # BKUP-97 which would give you the same effect. You could install it inline with the purple wire of your 7-way. You would cut the purple wire and then attach one end of the wire to one of the contact studs and then attach the other wire to the other stud, and then when there is voltage on this circuit the voltage will run through the # BKUP-97 activating the alarm and then...
